PIC: a picture of a father's sacrifice - in high definition

A conversation I had with Don, a couple of months back:

HE: My brother bought a new LCD TV. He says it's better for his son's eyes.

ME: Yea, that's what every father will say when he wants to get a new HDTV.

...

Yes. Yes, that is what every father would say when they want to get a new HDTV.

It's better for Seth's eyes.

Our "Speedy" DVD player died a rather "Speedy" death. We'd resurrected it once before, but decided enough is enough.

So we went out to get a new basic DVD player.

Don and David recommended Pioneer. So, in the end, did the salesman.

There were two models - one with HDMI output and one with regular ol' output. We decided on the regular one, because, after all, our 29" Sony Black Trinitron ain't the epitome of high definition clarity.

"Just out of curiosity, how much are LCD TVs going for, nowadays?" I asked.

That's how we ended up with this Toshiba.
And, because it's hi-def, I had to up the ante on the DVD player as well.

So, now, Seth can watch his educational programmes with better care of his eyes.

Us fathers are all about sacrifice.

btw, I've finally watched Terminator: Salvation. Giant robots rock in hi-def.

It's official - we're hooked on @spicycorner.

I have no food photo to show you, because I got right down to the eatin' - the guy was late (buka puasa rush). But here's Seth enjoying an after-dinner pappadum:

Today's dinner was tenggiri banana leaf set for daddy, chicken varuval banana leaf set for mommy and a cut of tenggiri - plus bits of our sets - for baby (who is now dancing to Winnie the Pooh on the TV).

The blend of flavours is a delight to the tongue that McDonald's just can't match. Especially at the same price point! I mean, for the same cost, do you want anonymous food or Indian spices? It's a no-brainer. If Ramly burger also started delivering, I think I'd probably never dial M again. Haha...

The only thing is that Spicy ain't really hot. So I compensated with chomping on the morru molagha (fried marinated chilli) as I ate.

Seth loved his stuff too - practically licked the plate clean!

Tune in next time for the continuing adventures in Indian food!
