200 Factors Google Weighs to Rank Your Page

There are "over 200 SEO factors" that Google uses to rank pages in the Google search results (SERPs). What are the search engine optimization rules?
Here is the speculation - educated guesses by SEO webmasters on top webmaster forums.

Ever wonder how Google ranks pages?

Search engine optimisation is almost like black magic. Google keeps the ingredients to its secret sauce highly confidential, but people do notice patterns.

This list I stumbled upon is interesting because some of these "educated guesses" are here confirmed by *Google patents* (which are publicly available).

Taking egosurfing to the extreme! ;). http://x.alphalim.me/googlealpha

Actually, I was tired of the proliferation of my online profiles and trying to decide which social network to use as the definitive profile.

Then I realised that there's no such thing as a definitive profile. When I'm on a network, I just look at your profile on that network. If I really want to stalk - I mean, know more about - you, I'll google you.

So I realised that Google is my - and your - de facto online profile. That led inexorably to http://x.alphalim.me/googlealpha.

Wanna make your own? It's simple:

1. Google your name, e.g. [tan-ah-kow].
2. In the search results, click on the little "up arrows" to promote links that you want to highlight.
2.1. I think you've got to be logged in to your Google account for this to work.
3. Near the top of the first search result page, click on the link that says something about sharing "this SearchWiki".
3.1. Copy the url that it gives to you.
4. Go to http://tr.im, paste in that url and type a shortcut link name, e.g. "googletakow".
4.1. tr.im will give you a url like http://tr.im/googletakow.
5. Go to your domain name settings and create a subdomain and a CNAME record pointing to tr.im
5.1. For example, x.alphalim.me points to tr.im
6. Use the tr.im shortcut at the end of your newly created subdomain, e.g. "googlealpha" at the end of my link.
7. Enjoy your very own egosearch!

btw, I did not have to alter my results very much. That's the benefit of having a unique name, I guess. But I did have to bump http://alphalim.me to the top, from the third search result page! It was buried so far in because it's rather new, I think!

btbtw, you'll notice that the steps above get more and more complex. You can actually stop anywhere after 3.1.

btbtbtw, Egosurfing according to Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egosurfing

btbtbtbtw, I just (Nov 2, 09) edited my profile link - dropped another 2 characters from the count ;).
