I must thank Erna for turning me on to WriteRoom. What an awesome thing it is! Nothing but an old-fashioned black screen with green terminal-style type. Hahaha! This is liberating. But it's got automatic spellcheck? What on earth. Is that red underline a good thing? I don't know, yet. We shall see... 

Okay, that red underline can be turned off. WriteRoom is truly the distracted writer's dream come true.

"FREE MOVIE TICKET!*" Or, How a Tiny Asterisk Can Eradicate Tremendous Goodwill

I just received a letter from HSBC informing me that I have won a free movie ticket voucher from GSC Cinemas. Thank you, HSBC. 

I turn to the back of the ticket voucher and read: 

This voucher is not valid for Gold Class, Premiere Class, Twin Seats, Digital 2-D & Digital 3-D movies. 

Yeah, GSC. Thanks for enlisting me to help fill up the subprime seats. And thanks for giving me *one* ticket, so that I'll pay for the subprime seat next to me. Who goes to the cinema alone? 

If you're going to do something, do it. Go all in. Doing it half in makes no sense at all to me. It's a like a store that has so many rules and regulations about sales and exchanges that you wonder if they really want to be bothered to sell you anything at all.
